Kitakyushu, the gateway to Asia, is separated from Honshu by the Kanmon Straits. From ancient times, the city was blessed with both a rich natural environment and culture and has developed as a key junction for trade. In present days, the tradition is passed on as access to the convention is of utmost importance.
Thanks to the opening of the 24-hour operating Kitakyushu Airport, access has become especially convenient with early and late flight routes to the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Direct access from JR Kokura station’s North Exit – a 5-minute walk – and the concentration of all its facilities make the International Convention the perfect location for large-scale conventions. The biggest attraction lies in the fact that hosting fees are very reasonable compared to those the Tokyo metropolitan area or the main domestic cities. We will support in various ways the convention by finding support for the organization of your meetings, conferences, events, haiku contests, trade fairs and exhibitions, by undertaking various planning and dispatching volunteers.

In Kitakyushu, the North exit area of JR Kokura station, the Kitakyushu International Conference Center, the West Japan General Exhibition Center, hotels, commercial facilities are all concentrated in the “The International Convention Zone” which represents the perfect location for a large-scale convention.
JR Kokura station is located just 30 minutes away from Kitakyushu Airport and with the Shinkansen, JR trains and the municipal monorail, access is extremely convenient. The station is also linked to every convention facilities by a pedestrian deck which allows for easy access.

Kitakyushu city is the birthplace of Japan’s steel manufacturing. Since the opening of the government-operated Yahata Steel Plant in 1901, it has played an important role in the modernization of Japan.
The essence and structure of the current industry is changing. Internal reforms from a once “basic material industry” towards a “high-value added processing industry” are being implemented and accumulated technologies are about to merge with the latest technologies.
Thanks to the co-operation of Kyushu’s representative enterprises, there is an industrial tourist system in place where it is possible to see for oneself what the actual state of the industry is. Spend an enjoyable time familiarizing yourself with the industry.
The West Japan General Exhibition Center Annex boasts 8,000 square meters (86,100 sq. ft.) of open floor space, the Main Building 7,000 square meters (75,340 sq. ft.), and AIM 3F and the medium hall 1,400 square meters (15,060 sq. ft.) to meet the needs of the exhibitors. The facilities allow to hold flexible full-scale trade shows and exhibitions to attract visitors.
The annex is suitable for varied special events of large scale. It can be arranged in ways that could not be realized before. High-quality conventions can therefore freely be organized.
Another attractive feature is the possibility for the annex and the medium hall to be converted to three sizes (large, medium-size, small) to one’s goals with high-tech specifications.
Moreover, with its history and past accomplishments the main building occupies an indisputable position as pioneer among all facilities.
The slogan at every facility is to “develop new businesses and networks ”
